- The Impressment ActBritish soldiers and above would steal Americans from the ports and take them back to Britain to join the Army and make them become a citizen
- Embargo ActThe US had stopped all trade in due to a strained relationship.
- British aid to Native AmericansThe British had aided the natives for support against the U.S for war and promised them land
- War at SeaWhen the United States declared war on Great Britain in June 1812, the U.S. Navy was an eighteen-year-old institution with barely a dozen ships to its name.
- The battle of Lake Erie A battle between the U.S and Britain which had left 27 Americans dead and 96 wounded whereas there were 40 British soldiers killed and 94 wounded. The battle had forced the British to abandoned Detroit which made it possible for the U.S to take over Lake Erie and the territorial northwest.
