Sun Photometers are devices that can monitor aerosols. But, most commercial sun photometers are either expensive or not automatic. So, how can we make a cheaper sun photometer? What materials can we use to make a photometer cheaper? How cheaper will a photometer get down much? How photometer make money still there? Accurate photometer no money how?
Our study can use LEDs instead of expensive equipment to monitor aerosols. When sunlight hits an LED, it produces voltage, which we can use to measure how much aerosols are blocking sunlight.

We then use a magical method called Langley calibration to convert this voltage into Aerosol Optical Depth, a measure of how many aerosols there are in the atmosphere.
Three years and multiple sleep-deprived nights later, we produced this! A sun photometer that is cheap and reliable. Look at her, she’s beautiful.
