- This turtle feeds on small fish, fallen leaves, palm seeds, and crustaceans.

- Native to East Africa, the gerenuk's identified by its long, slender legs and neck, russet coat, and lyre-shaped horns. Gazelles were imported to Egypt as trade or tribute, and some pharoahs kep them as pets.

- Although native to North Africa, in 2017, DNA tests revealed that the Atlas lion was more closely related to the Asiatic lion. In Saqqara, an eight month-old zombified lion cub was unearthed, the burial shroud inked with facial features.

- The pale gerbil has pale orange fur, with white underparts, white forelimbs and white feet. The ears are unpigmented and the soles of the feet are haired, which is a characteristic of sand-dwelling gerbils.
