She said that Louis Farrakhan and other organizers appeared to prefer that women take subordinate roles in society. She felt as if they didn’t care about women's rights. She also felt as black women weren’t as important as black men in the black community when they did the March.

  • Angela Davis was appointed presidential chair in African American Studies and feminist studies in the University of California. also in 1997, Davis came out as a lesbian during an interview with Out magazine. Around this time she also wrote books Blues Legacies and Black Feminism, Feminist Family Values Forum, The Prison Industrial Complex etc. These books were mainly about the struggles that black people and especially women or lesbian women go through.
