Storyboard Text

  • By: Emma Cassell, and John Henry Vieau
  • When Nick arrived at the party, he didn't feel that he fit in. While he was there he noticed many people were talking about Gatsby. He also mentioned, "I believe that on the first night I went to Gatsby’s house I was one of the few guests who had actually been invited" (page 13)
  • I am Gatsby. I live in this mansion and throw parties on the weekends. Some of the guests that come to my parties I don't even know!
  • This is an example of plot and characterization because it talks about the party, and it mentions how Nick doesn't feel that he fits in.
  • While Nick and Jordan were at the party, they seemed to have hit it off and enjoyed talking together.
  • This is an example of plot because Nick and Jordan's relationship gets brought up more as the chapter progresses.
  • When looking around, Jordan and Nick notice someone. They described him as, "A stout, middle-aged man, with enormous owl-eyed spectacles, was sitting somewhat drunk on the edge of a great table, staring with unsteady concentration at the shelves of books." (page 14) Nick was very interested in the book selection Gatsby had.
  • Hello! I am Owl Eyes!
  • This represents character because of the description of Owl Eyes.
  • This represents theme because this is the time that Jay and Nick get to officially meet and get to know eachother.
  • While Nick and Jordan were enjoying their time sitting outside, a man by the name of Jay came by to talk with them. Nick believed he had recognised him and asked, "“Your face is familiar,” he said, politely. “Weren’t you in the Third Division during the war?” (page 15)
  • Hey Old Sport! I can see that you guys are also watching the party from a view!
  • Owl eyes had been upset because his car had fallen into the ditch and his car was completely destroyed. Many people gathered to see what had happened to him and the car.
  • While Nick was leaving the Gatsby party he noticed something interesting. He described it as, "Fifty feet from the door a dozen headlights illuminated a bizarre and tumultuous scene." (page 16)
  • This represents the plot because this was an important piece to the story because Owl Eyes had been drunk driving, and if he hadn't drank as much as he did, he wouldn't have gotten into the accident.
  • While working in the city, Nick has been in a relationship with Jordan. Although he finds Jordan an attractive woman, he does not like the way she cheats in golf, and doesn't seem to love her personality. He even says, "I wasn’t actually in love, but I felt a sort of tender curiosity." (page 17)
  • This represents the plot because this relationship will have an affect on the rest of the story.
