- Morris Kent, a 16-year-old boy was on probation for stealing and then was arrested again while he was on probation for theft and rape. Becuase of the repetition and seriousness of his crimes, Kent was tried in adult court, to the dismay of his lawyers. Without a full inspection of Kent's background and mental state, Kent was tried in adult court and got a sentence of 30-90 years in prison. Kent's lawyers argued that the case should be tried in a juvenile court since there was not a proper hearing to see whether or not it should be in adult court.
