- "This is Democritus, the Greek Philosopher from 460 B.C. He tried to cut cheese into smaller and smaller pieces but he got to a point where it could not get any smaller. He concluded that uncuttable pieces existed which he called atomos which also means uncuttable."

- "Next is John Dalton who was an English chemist from 1808. Dalton did some experiments like studying the pressure of gas to conclude that all substances, even gases, have small uncharged spheres called atoms. Also, compounds are created when different atoms combine."

- "This is Michael Faraday who was an English chemist from 1830. Faraday showed that atoms could gain electric charges when he wrapped 2 insulated coils around an iron ring, which resulted in a brief current induced in the one coil after passing through one."
- "From his experiments and research, he added that these electrons can be added or removed to create charged atoms. This information helps us understand that atoms can become charged and make compounds."
