Storyboard Text

  • Walter McMillan is a middle aged black man who owned a very successful logging business and was a very respected man within his community.  He lived in Monroeville, Alabama also known as Monroe county where the murder of Ronda Morrison took place on November 1, 1986. Bryan Stevenson is also a character who will be taking place in this story. He is a young black lawyer who will be representing Walters case.
  • Climax

  • Walter McMillan was wrongly convicted for the murder of Ronda Morrison which happend because of racial discrimination.
  • Falling Action
  • Bryan Stevenson opened up his own nonprofit organization called EJI. Stevenson then could start finding evidence for Walters wrong conviction. After finding enough evidence Stevenson gets people to testify against Walters conviction in court.
  • Resolution
  • The new judge rules in favor of Walters innocence during the second trial. Walter then gets out of death row and tries to move on with his life.
  • Walter tries to start his own junk business after getting hurt from logging, but his business doesn't do so well and he starts getting depressed. Walter then starts showing signs of forgetfulness and develops dementia and has to live in the nursing home for a little while.
  • Walter got to move back in with his sister Katie but passed away shortly after in his sleep. Walter died on September 11, 2013. His funeral was very bitter sweet, Stevenson got to speak at the funeral and he talked about how huge of an impact Walter made on his life. It is really surprising how much prison can ruin someones life, so that is why we need to be thankful for how much we have been blessed.
