- This represents Rainsford learning that Zaroff hunts men.

- This is the part where General Zaroff Sends his dogs after Rainsford
- Following the trail with the sureness of abloodhound came General Zaroff. Nothingescaped those searching black eyes, no crushedblade of grass, no bent twig, no mark, no matterhow faint, in the moss. Pg 580-590
- This is where Rainsford wins the game and "kills" Zaroff.
- The general sucked in his breath and smiled. “I congratulate you,” he said.“You have won the game.” pg 700
