- During this time, the only atmosphere was formed from the gases that came out of volcanoes (mainly greenhouse gases)
- Early Atmosphere
- 4.6 billion years ago
- The first organisms, formed by complex chemical reactions, started photosynthesizing and producing oxygen.
- Archean Eon
- 4-2.5 billion years ago
- 2.6 billion-400 million years ago
- Oxygen At Last
- Eventually there was enough oxygen to react with both the atmosphere and irons to turn the sky blue and create the first oxides.
- The was so much oxygen in the air that all non-oxygen using animals died, and resulted in an explosion of both sea and land life.
- Oxygen Boom
- 700-500 million years ago
- The oxygen levels surpassed those of our current age, and large trees and plants were able to flourish.
- Age of Oxygen
- 400-299 million years ago
- The oxygen in the atmosphere was slightly reduced with the boom of life, but now we are currently resting at a good amount of oxygen.
- Current Age
- 290 million years ago-now
