- Chapter Three
- Pony I didn't mean to!
- In chapter one, when Ponyboy walks home from the movies, he is encountered and jumped by some Socs.
- Chapter Four
- I killed him...
- In chapter two, Johnny, Ponyboy and Dally are introduced to Cherry and Marcia. Even though they reject Dally, they let Ponyboy and Johnny sit with them because they think they are innocent and too young.
- Chapter Five
- I think we should turn ourselves in...
- In chapter three, Ponyboy arrives home late after spending the night with Two-Bit Matthew, Johnny, Cherry, and Marcia. Ponyboy gets into a fight with Darry when he unexpectedly slaps him. This motivates Ponyboy to run away.
- Chapter Six
- HELP!
- In chapter four, A blue mustang with a few Socs show up at the park and want to create some trouble. Bob, one of the Socs, asks David to give Ponyboy a bath. As a sign of self-defense and helping Ponyboy, he takes out his switchblade and kills Bob.
- After Ponyboy and Johnny spend a few days at the church, Dally picks them up for barbecue sandwiches at Dairy Queen. When Dally debriefs on what's going on in the city, Johnny proposes that they should turn themselves in.
- When Ponyboy and Johnny return to the church, they are met by a burning church. A nearby school was having a picnic nearby and some kids wandered into the church. Since Ponyboy thought that this was his fault for the church burning down, he goes in and saves the children.
- We need to save them!
