- Archduke Franz Ferdinand was scheduled to visit Sarajevo in June but instead, he was assassinated on June 28, 1914. He was assassinated because of his perceived threat to Serbian Independence. Two shots were fired from a street corner in the center of Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina.
- Many innocent people died on May 7, 1915, due to a German U-boat torpedo off of the Irish coast struck the ship and it sunk. It was thought to be invulnerable but within 20 minutes after being struck the Lusitania had fully submerged underwater and 1,198 people drowned.
- The Spanish-American war was fought in multiple places such as the Philippines, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Guam, Asia-Pacific, and the Caribbean sea. The war was fought between April 21, 1898, through December 10, 1898. They signed a peace treaty that formally ended the Spanish-American war.
