The Battle of the Alamo
Storyboard Text
- Sam Houston ordered the Alamo to be destroyed. But James Bowie and William Travis refused because they thought the Alamo was too important
- While this was happening Santa Anna was marching to San Antonio to begin a siege on the Alamo.
- Santa Anna has arrived and has began attacking the Alamo. The intense battle lasted for 13 days. For the first few days Santa Anna was shooting cannons at the defenders for 4-5 days leaving them exhausted.
- Once the cannon fire has stopped the defenders rushed to bed to get some rest. While they were asleep the attack resumed leaving the defenders unprepared. Some were fighting with no clothes and others had no idea where their weapons were.
- The defenders were outnumbered and outgunned. Some hid in the barracks shooting from the windows while others were brutally killed while in the courtyard. Few people survived and released.
- The Alamo has fallen on March 6, 1836. 1800 Mexicans fought against around 189 Texans. All Texans were killed and around 600 Mexicans were killed as well.
