- Act 1, Scene 1: characters Sebastion, Antonio, and Gonzalo exclaim about their newly recked ship and acknowledge that they are going to sink because of it. King Alonso and his son Ferdinand pray for their lives.
- Act 2, Scene 1: Sebastion and Antonio plot to kill Alonso and Gonzalo while they sleep
