It'll be scary sometimes

My great-great grandfather on my father's side was born free in Ohio,

1832.

Built his home and farmed his land, then dug for coal when the farming wasn't enough. Fought hard in the war. His name in stone now on the Civil War memorial: William J. Woodsen United STates Colored Troops, Union, Company B 5th Regt. A long time dead but living still among the other soldiers on that monument in Washington, D.C. HIs son was sent to Nelsonville lived with an aunt

William Woodsen the only brown boy in an all-white school. You'll face this in life someday, my mother will tell us over and over again. A moment when you will walk into a room and no one will like you. It'll be scary sometimes. But think of William Woodsen and you'll be alright.

I can relate to it'll be scary sometimes a couple different ways. I can most relate to what her mother says that it will be scary sometimes walking into a room that no one likes you because I have done it before and it is very scary. I also struggle a lot with speaking in front of people and walking into places but I push through. I tell myself I don't care what people think about me and I will overcome anything with God, friends, and family. I also can relate to people working for what they have like their grandfather. My family has worked for everything they have now. My family owns a saw mill, my dad owns a lumber company, my grandfather owns a feed mill and we have a couple other companies. I took from this poem to power through everything that scares you in life and to not give up.
