Storyboard Text

  • I love this show.
  •
  • I'm going to scare them, that's what I'll do!
  • Montag's wife, Mildred, invites her friends, Mrs. Phelps and Mrs. Bowles, over one evening after supper. They are fascinated by the shows on the television and have very superficial conversations with each other.
  • Shut up, you fool!
  • Montag turns off the television to try and get the women to have a meaningful conversation. His wife and her friends are irritated at him, reliant on the television and incapable of talking about things other than war and their families.
  • Oh, that was so horrible!
  • Montag gets frustrated with the women and their dull conversations and decides to read a poetry book to them, which is banned in this society. Faber, Montag's confidant, talks to him through an earpiece that he wears.
  • Faber, on the other side of the earpiece, warns Montag to stop reading the book before he gives away too much and ruins everything. He threatens to leave the call if Montag continues.
  • Montag ignores Faber and finishes the verse that he's reading. Mrs. Phelps begins to sob because she is so distraught by the poetry and the fact that Montag was reading to them.
  • Horrified, Mildred's friends leave after Montag cusses them out for living such mundane lives and being so focused on their television shows. Mildred says nothing and decides to go to sleep while Faber worries that the women are going to expose them.
