  • TELL US MORE!
  • Today we are going to be talking about the endosymbiotic theory
  • Let's move to the evidence, and a different place.
  • This theory explains similarities between mitochondria and cholorplasts have to a prokaryote. It leads to thinking eukaryotes evolved from prokaryotes.
  • GET OUT OF THE WAY LADY!!
  • Some ways mitochondria and prokaryotes are similar. They both have their own cell membrane. Mitochondria has a circular genome, which is a complete set of DNA, just like prokaryotes, but they only get that type of gene from their host. The third evidence is Mitochondria and Prokaryotic cells both reproduce by splitting in half, known as cytokinesis.
  • The invention of DNA sequencing helped a lot in evidence to this theory.
  • What is this lady doing?
  • Did someone lose a mental patient again?
  • When you do DNA sequencing it allows us to compare two molecules of DNA and look at their amino acid sequence. Compare the DNA and see how much the DNA is alike Prokaryotes. For example, mitochondrion has a circular DNA genome like a prokaryote cell.
  • Mitochondria, which are in eurkaryotic cells, and prokaryotic cells which are bacteria have a lot of similarities.
  • Ma'am can you tell us why?
  • Wow that is so interesting!!
