- 1. Species exist in population
- Individuals in a population vary anatomically, physically and behaviorally.
- 2. Variation in individuals is inherited
- Where did my prey go?
- Variation in a population is from mutation in genes, gene flow and sexual reproduction
- 3. Individuals in population reproduce
- Mates are chosen based on biological factors(i.e. how they look, act, etc.)
- 4. Competition

- Resources are limited(i.e. food, shelter from predator, mates, etc.)
- Individuals with traits that allow them to survive and reproduce pass on their genes

- 7. Evolution is the change in traits over time
- There are too many predators we must live here now
- As habits change some variations in a population allow some organisms to survive and reproduce, passing their successful traits(genes), other individuals in the population die
- Over time species change due to environmental changes and the individuals most suited for the environment survive to reproduce
