- Our efforts in the Battle of Antietam have proven successful! However great the victory may be, I conclude that the cries to end slavery have gone far enough.
- It would simply be unwise to let what aroused this conflict in the first place to stand any longer. It is not just the union of states we must preserve, but the union of the people!
- We've gotten to far in our efforts to successfully maintain the Union just for us to lose our grip on said union in future conflicts! WE MUST TRULY LIVE TO THE GREAT CREED THAT STATES THAT ALL MEN ARE CREATED EQUAL!
- (Not much later, in January 1st, 1863, President Lincoln eventually signed the Emancipation Proclamation.)
- TO FREEDOM!!!
- A very important, though indirect effect the signing of the proclamation would have is that it would encourage southern slaves to escape to the north and fight for the Union.
- The Emancipation Proclamation is what led to slavery being illegal in the country, and it paved the way for further revolution in the near future, furthering the idea that all human beings are indeed created equal.
