- I am the father of 18 children and I work more than 18 hours a day just to put some food on the table. My work is of a goldsmith.
- We are the 2 older children. We both have a dream to pursue our talent for art but our father would never be able to send both of us to Nuremberg.

- So we both can do a coin toss and whoever loses will go and work in the mines to support the other brother to pursue his dream and then after 4 years the roles will be reversed.
- Albrecht won and went to Nuremberg and Albert went into the mines
- Albert worked in the mine and Albrecht became an instant sensation over there
- I can't go anywhere because it is too late for me. Look at my hands! Each and every bone in my hand is broken. I can't even raise a toast back to you
- When Albrecht came back he rose a toast to his brother and said - and what Albert said
- Now it's your turn my blessed brother.
- In return Albrecht made a painting called The Praying Hands symbolising Albert's harworking hands
