- When I was six I was on my wat home from school in the bus one afternoon when someone began picking on my older sister.
- You are so ugly, and annoying I'm surprised you have any friends at all!
- As I sat and watched the expression on my sisters face grow red with embarrassment I couldn't help but feel helpless and short of breathe. Next thing I know, I am curled up in a ball in the corner of the bus struggling to gasp for air.
- Next thing I know, I am getting carried into an ambulance. Eventually when I was able to catch my breathe and stop shaking, the paramedic told me that I was having a severe panic attack.
- I am now 17 years old, and although I didn't really know what a panic attack was then, I definitely know what it is now. I have been struggling with severe anxiety since I was six years old. I have good days, and I have bad days.
- Even though it is a hard thing to deal with, and the thought of dealing with it my whole life is very overwhelming, my anxiety has taught me some very important lessons like the importance of asking for help when you need it, and that asking for help is not a sign of weakness.
- I need help.
- Although I may face some more challenges then others throughout my life, through my anxiety I have learned the importance of surrounding yourself with people who love and care about you, that will never judge you for asking for help.
