- FORCED AND VOLUNTARY MIGRATION
- Living in America will grant me a better life because of its freedoms.
- One of my moms friends came along with her as an Asylum Seeker, hoping to have a better life and more opportunities in the United States. Asylum Seekers are immigrants who move somewhere in order to find asylum, which could be for economic, social, political, or environmental reasons.

- EFFECTS OF MIGRATION
- Let's settle here in Ontario to raise our daughter.
- My mom lived with my dad and two family friends for a few years and then my mom had me. My parents then migrated to areas in California which were nearby where they originally lived before settling in one house, where they've raised me and my siblings. This is known as step migration, since they migrated from place to place in order to settle in the most suitable area.

- Once my parents were settled in a house they realized that our house had two extra rooms which we didn't need. They began renting one of the rooms out in order to help them pay for house expenses. My parents eventually began renting the room out to a woman called Catalina. She was a new immigrant who came to the United States because of pull factors such as job opportunities, economic balance, higher wages. She believed that her newborn son would have a better life in the United States than in Mexico.

- I came to the U.S. so my son could have a good life, and I need to rent so that I could start working.
