- Yes, would you like to teach me why it’s democratic and why it’s important to us?
- So you're probably wondering what makes democracy, well The Declaration of Independence.
- What exactly is the Declaration of Independence and why is it important?
- Something that also goes along with The Declaration is the constitution.
- What is the constitution about and why is it important to us all?
- Yes, well The United States is democratic because our government is elected by citizens. It is also democratic because supporting democracy not only promotes fundamental American values such as religious freedom and worker rights, but also helps create a more secure, stable and prosperous global arena which is why the United States is considered democratic.
- But why is voting important?
- The Declaration of Independence is an American document written in 1776 that states the American colonies independence from Great Britain. “ We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”
- The Constitution of the United States is important because it establishes America’s national government and fundamental laws, and guarantees certain basic rights for its citizens. The Constitution is made up of 27 amendments. It represents The Supreme Law of the Land.
- Is there any other questions that you have as to why the US is democratic?
- No, but thank you for educating me.
- It is important because it allows us to vote for the changes we want. Everyone can vote as long as criteria is met.
- Voting is one of the most important things involved in our Democratic government.
- What else goes into the United States being democratic?
- Some basic equality rights that are provided is everyone being able to work by having the free choice of employment. Everyone is also treated with the same respect and consideration.
- What are some Basic equality rights that the constitution provides?
