  • Discovering by means of this roundabout...find out the real truth by indirect means. You have my meaning, have you not?

  • Act 2 Scene 1
  • Oh, dear Ophelia. His love for you has turned him mad. Come, let us take this alarming news to the king.
  • Oh, my lord. I've been so frightened! Lord Hamlet confronted me with a haunted look. As you ordered I returned his letters and refunded him access to me
  • Welcome Rosencrantz and Guildenstern, we called you to the kingdom because we need your services. We ask the both of you, Hamlet's life long friends to help him through his struggles, and find the reason for his recent actions
  • Act 2 Scene 2
  • If you do choose to help us, you'll be rewarded handsomely.
  • In Act 2 Scene 1, Polonius calls for his servant Reynaldo and tells him to spy on his son Laertes while he stays in Paris. The reason Polonius asks Reynaldo to spy on Laertes is because he wants to make sure that Laertes is following Polonius's maxims.

  • Did this come to her from Hamlet?
  • In Act 2 Scene 1, Ophelia rushes to her father's room to tell him that Hamlet has gone mad. Hamlet ran into Ophelia's room with a haunted look on his face, pale as his shirt, and his knees knocked together. Polonius couldn't believe the words Ophelia was saying, Polonius suggests that they should address the king.
  • Act 2 Scene 2
  • No way. I wont have you classed as my servants. Quite frankly, I'm very badly looked after.
  • King Claudius is convincing Hamlet's childhood friends, Guildenstern and Rosencrantz, to spy on him. Claudius wants Guildenstern and Rosencrantz to tell him why Hamlet has gone mad. Gertrude is worried that Hamlet is still thinking about his father.
  • Act 2 Scene 2
  • -Run barefoot up and down, threatening the flameswith blinding tears, a rag upon the headwhere late her crown had stood...
  • Polonius goes up to the King and Queen to inform them about the letter that was received by Ophelia. In the letter, Hamlet tells Ophelia that he loves her. This spirals ideas of what Hamlet could be going through and why he must've gone mad.
  • He is mad, is true. This is what remains therefore: take note. I have a daughter- she gave me this. Oh dear Ophelia, I'm bad at poetry. But that I love you more than anyone else, much more, believe me!
  • Rosencrantz and Guildenstern want to escort Hamlet to find out why he's mad. Hamlet brushes them off and questions them about their appearance at Elsinore. Hamlet eventually catches on and keeps acting mad.
  • We'll escort you.
  • This is too long.
  • I shall go to the barber's to be trimmed along with your beard.
