- “It was hard to remember what I'd been so scared of. Being treated differently? Lack of acceptance? I was the one who hadn't accepted myself for who I was. I was the one who needed to be comfortable in my own skin. I hoped I could do that moving forward."
- Autumn thinks that she has always truly been alone. Autumn is afraid that if her friends learn about her anxiety, they will not like her or treat her the same. In this quote, Autumn realizes she has nothing to lose.

- “I was not one of those girls who needed to fix broken boys.”
- Autumn has been chasing a guy named Jeff for months, feeling that to be liked, she had to be with him or like him. Jeff is charismatic, charming, and funny, but he is not the one for Autumn. Autumn feels her independence for once in her life because she knows she doesn't have to be what others want her to be.

- Autumn changes throughout the book, becoming wiser and more honest towards the end. In the end, Autumn realizes that she defines her own life and no one can choose things for her.
