- “Let us go, nevertheless. The cold is merely nothing. Amontillado! You have been imposed upon
- “My friend, no. It is not the engagement, but the severe cold with which I perceive you are afflicted. The vaultsare insufferably damp. They are encrusted with nitre.”
- Its quite quiet.
- I told them that I should not return until the morning, and had given them explicit orders not to stir from the house.
- They are at the carnival and Amontillado is starting to manipulate Fortunato.
- Amontillado is telling Fortunato about the wine in his cellar and he is acting like they shouldn't go knowing that Fortunato isn't going to care that the cellar is cold he just wants the wine.
- “Ha! ha! ha! — he! he! he! — a very good joke, indeed — an excellent jest. We will have many a rich laugh aboutit at the palazzo — he! he! he! — over our wine — he! he! he!”
- “For the love of God, Montresor!”
- Amontillados house is very quiet and no open is there when him and Fortunato get to his house. he tells Fortunato that he told him workers to stay there and that he wouldn't be home until tomorrow. Secretly Amontillado did that on purpose knowing that they would leave.

- For the half of a century no mortal has disturbed them. In pacerequiescat
- Amontillado starts chaining Fortunato up and is starting to build the wall.
- Fortunato realizes what is happening and he thinks this is a joke.
- Amontillado is trying to see if Fortunato is still alive and gets no reply. the last words he says to Fortunato is Rest in peace.
