  • A goal is a desired final result or, in other words, something you want to achieve. Goals can either be brief or long-term, depending on the desired final results.Goals are particularly critical in terms of your wellness. When setting goals, we need to ensure they are SMART goals. A SMART goal is a goal that is specific, measurable, achievable, applicable and time-bound. Specific Your goal has to be clear and easy to understand. When developing your goal, think about what you need to accomplish, why it is essential to you, who's involved, and what sources and/or barriers are involved. An example of a selected goal might be “I will lose weight.”MeasurableYou will want to place a numerical value on your goal in order to track your development and recognize when you have executed your goal. However, before figuring out the numerical value for your goal, you need to ensure the number you choose is realistic. AchievableBefore adding a number to your goal, ensure your goal for a number that you can realistically obtain. Make certain the numerical value you select is high enough to encourage you, however not so high that you get discouraged. An instance of a measurable and attainable goal might be “I will lose 7% of my body weight”.RelevantSet goals that are essential to you! The more essential the goal is to you and the more relevant it is to you at that moment, the greater motivated you will be to obtain it.Time-boundMake a deadline for when you want to obtain your goal. Most humans work better and are more encouraged when there's a deadline set on something they need to get done. An instance might be “I will lose 7% of my body weight in three months”.
