- "Indian" Removal in the Southeast/ The Trail of Tears (1838)

- From the perspective of the native people, they are attempting to make friendly connections with the new settlers by signing treaties. From the USA's point of view this is very good for their economy, as they now have access to a very valuable trade route: the Mississippi river.
- Mexican War/ Border Dispute breaks into war (1846)
- I was thinking we could put the border here, at the Rio Grande river.
- I would rather put it further north, at the Nueces River.
- From Mexico's point of view,this is a good way to prove their independence from Spain and secure their power as an independent nation. From the perspective of settlers, this is an excellent deal and a great prospect to make their families more powerful.
- Oregon Treaty/ Oregon Trail (1846)
- I hope there's still enough land for us.
- There will be once Polk gets all of those Indians onto reservations
- From the perspective of some tribes, they faced what was essentially a cultural reset because of thespiritual significance of the land they were forced off of. From America's point of view, Andrew Jackson sets a precedent for the terrible treatment of Indigenous people and shows his ‘dominance’ over indigenous peoples establishing a problematic power dynamic.
- American Indians and "Westward Expansion"/ The Ghost Dance (1889)
- I hope that through this dance, we can form a more peaceful society for all.
- Americans' point of view changed as the idea of Manifest Destiny emerged along with the urge to gain more land. From Mexico's point of view, they are desperate to retain what power they have left and regain their footing in the international arena.
- The Native Americans feel horribly betrayed and taken advantage of as they are stripped of their culture and mistreated horribly. From the perspective of America, this deal allowing America to reach their goal of Manifest Destiny and secure their power proves that they can achieve their goals by mistreating those around them.
- Americans feel threatened by the ghost dance and use it as an excuse to mistreat the indigenous people,securing the idea of superiority. From Native Americans' point of view, they have their spirituality threatened as they hope for a better life.
