- He is the guy from school that got bullied 3 years ago. I know his dad
- News: There is a robbery taking place.
- The scene takes place in Atlanta where 18-year-old Jamal Wilkins is a college basketball player.
- Meeting the Mentor
- Jamal is an introvert who likes to keep his sister, Charlotte, safe at all times. His parents passed away in an attack at the airport, and Jamal is forced to live with his uncle. His uncle works most of the time so they do not have much time together. His sister is the only family that he trusts and wants to take care of.
- Crossing the First Threshold
- Jamal and his sister saw the news and saw that there was a person that he ignored in school when he was getting bullied who was doing a robbery at a store. Luckily, his uncle knew his dad and he went and called him. His uncle gave him the dad's phone number and they got ready to meet him.
- Test, Allies, and Enemies
- They immediately rushed to the robber's father, Robert. Robert was not aware that his son was a robber. He explained that his son lives in a dorm and he has not seen him for 1 year. Robert says that he lived with a friend named Derek. Jamal, Charlotte, and Damian made their way over to Derek's dorm. They were informed that Derek was a African American and had short hair.
- Jamal called Derek's name out. Derek looked at Jamal but he was frightened because he did not know who Jamal was. Derek started to run away because he thought he was in trouble. Derek was not able to be found easily.
- Jamal questions Derek on why is sad. Derek says that Tyrone, the robber, threatened him to not tell anyone about his operation. Jamal explains that he is trying to stop Tyrone from hurting people. Derek agrees to tell them about Tyrone's plan. Derek explained how Tyrone's family died in a shooting at a grocery store so he is trying to achieve revenge.
