- Hi! I'm John Green, author of the novel The Fault In Our Stars I'm going to bring you with me and take you through the life of hazel
- This is Hazel Grace Lanchester, a 17 year old living with terminal cancer. Although her growth of cancer has been slowed by drugs, hazel is aware that her lifespan is limited.
- Her breathing is also very limted because of the cancer in her lungs so she has to breathe through portable oxygen tanks and tubes
- When Hazel reluctantly joins a cancer patient support group she catches the eye of a teenage boy and learns that his name is Augustus Waters duing the meeting anf that he is there in support of one of their mutual friend
- After the meeting ends, Augustus approaches Hazel and tells her she looks like Natalie Portman in Vendetta. He later invites Hazel to his house where they both discuss their experiences with cancer
- They both grow closer through their love of the book The Imperial Affliction But it has an unfinished ending, so they write to the author of the book, Van Houstan but when he refuses to tell them the ending, they plan to visit him..in Amsterdam...
- I'm still a little hesitant
- After consulting with her docter Maria, Hazel spends a long time trying to convince her mum to let her go, she eventually allows Hazel to go
