- After the revolutionary war, all 13 states were in debt. The debt hit farmers the hardest.
- Massachusettes decied to tax their citizens. The western farmers were not able to pay for their mortgages and taxes. This led to evictions, losing farms and jail times.
- You will never defeat us hear our voice!
- The farmers met by organizing the County conventions, they sent petitions and letters to boston. Boston did not listen. The farmers then gathered and Daniel Shay become the leader of the farmers
- The farmers took action and shut down the courts, because they couldn't take their stuff if they weren't open. Mass. appealed to the national gov. for help. No help was given because of weak gov. structure
- The weak national government made massuchutes have to create their own government, to defend from shays army. The army defeated shays rebellion.
- The end of the battle dawned a new beginning of Nationalist. People wanted a strong, sturdy, and national government they can trust. Anything but a king but a central government.
