- Colors
- In the society of the Giver, colors have been taken away completely. As the Giver explains to Jonas, “Once, back in the time of the memories, everything had a shape and size, the way things still do, but they also had a quality called color.” p94 Also, not just that, but genetics have also been modified so everyone has the same flesh color! The Giver describes that “There was a time . . . when flesh was many different colors. That was before we went to Sameness. Today flesh is all the same, and what you saw was the red tones. ” p94 With such enormous changes to colors of people and everything else, the Giver society is vastly different from ours.
- In current times, we have many different colors that everyone can see, not just someone who can see beyond. We do not change genetics and make people have the same flesh color. The colors in our society are extremely different from the colorless Giver society.
- Climate Control And Natural Changes

- In modern-day society, we have snow, even though it makes growing food difficult and sunshine has not gone away. We do not change nature just so we can grow food or take away unexpected differences like sunshine. We sometimes may flatten some parts of society to build, but we have not completely demolished hills! Climate is very different in our society than the Giver.
