- I guess we can go see the flamingos!

- It's a fake flamingo!!!
- As the teaching booth is teaching, all Melanie can think of is flamingos. She begs to see them at the national park because that's the only place there are wild birds left, but her dad thinks that its not a good idea because he doesn't want Melanie to see what the world can actually look like.
- Falling action
- Melanie does everything in her power to convince her dad to let her go fly over to the national park to see the flamingos, and he gives in. Melanie and her parents are going to be able to fly over to the national parks to be able to see the flamingos shes always dreamed about.
- Resolution
- Melanie and her parents arrive at the national parks to soon see one perfect flamingo standing close by shore. She wants to see it up close so she slowly inches closer towards the bird. She goes to touch it and it falls right over into shore.
- Conflict/theme
- The caretaker explains to Melanie that flamingos had went extinct. Since a lot of people also wanted to see these Fire birds, they would put fake plastic ones out by shore and hope that people wouldn't get too close to see that it was actually a fake Fire bird.
- As the caretaker explains to Melanie how flamingos needed more than a little island to survive and how they have went extinct, she decides to accept that the flamingos and all of the other wild birds are gone and say goodbye to them once and for all.
- This conflict for the story is character vs fate. It ischaracter vs fate because Melanie has to accept the fact that flamingoshave went extinct and grow up.
