  • Women's Rights 1970-1980
  • Women's activists such as Frances Willard and Elizabeth Stanton attacked labor issues by creating mutiple political movements. These movements gathered women together to fight for their rights by protesting in mass movements. This convinced government officials to give women the rights they deserve.
  • We deserve equal rights! We should be able to vote.
  • Women need workplace equality!

  • Labor Issues
  • Labor issues were a severe issue. People such as immigrants would work 10-12 hour days and bring home a very small pay which did not meet living costs. Workers decided to go on strike and form unions to enforce work equality. This eventually forced employers to enforce better work conditions. (1870s-1900s)
  • I am not being paid fairly.
  • We don't have enough money to feed our familiy.
  • I want to work shorter hours! I am exhausted from worked 12 hours a day.

  • Immigrants
  • Many immigrants from countries overseas, such as all over Europe, flooded into New York searching for a better lifefor themselves and their families. The majority of immigrants arrived to Ellis Island. Most immediately started work. (1870s)
  • I am a young pilot from Italy. I want to continue my education in New York.
  • Me and my son came from Russia in search for a better life.
