- They get to the abandoned church
- Ponyboy and Johnny don't know what to do when they realize what just happened. "Calm down Pony boy, get a hold of yourself.' I hadn't realized I was screaming."
- Dally gives them instructions to hop a train to windrixville and get to the old church on top of the hill "'Hop the three-fifteen fright train to windrixville.'" "There's an old abandoned church on top of Jay mountain."
- "I'm sorry I cut off your hair, Ponyboy." They change their appearances and try to go to sleep
