- The GD resulted in mass unemployment, leaving the US at a staggering 30% unemployment rate
- Herbert Hoover's approach to the Great Depression

- To cope with poverty and homelessness during the GD, citizens build shantytowns for housing. The term "hooverville" shows that the people believed that the cause of all of this was Herbert Hoover, the president at this time.
- HARD TIMES ARE HOOVERING OVER US
- FDR was pro Laissez Faire and believed the federal government should attempt to heal the damages that the Great Depression caused
- Herbert Hoover was the president from 1929 to 1933. He was anti-federal gov't relief and believed that the federal gov't should NOT get involved in helping the people fix the GD.
