- Vladek Always tried his hardest to protect me. We were always moving hiding spots, so we wouldn't get caught hiding.
- JEW FREE HOUSEHOLD
- I'm scared, Vladek. I don't feel safe here.
- It's ok, Anja. this building looks like a good hiding spot.
- One time, we were aloud to stay inside someones shed. it was freezing, and we had little food to last us.
- We will be fine. my cousin is planning to take us in when his wife understands. but for now, we must stay here.
- NO JEWS IN GERMANY!! HAIL HITLER!
- How are we going to live on this much food? We don't have enough to last us a day!
- But, the gestapo soon came and took us away. We stayed inside a building filled with hundreds of people. The conditions were terrible and people slept 50 to a room.
- TURN IN A JEW: 5 LOAVES OF BREAD
- we then were forced on a train, to be transported to Auschwitz.
- TRAIN TO AUSCHWITZ: JEWS ON BOARD
- There was an officer on the train, who would yell if we spoke even a word of Hebrew. I saw him strike multiple people in the span of 1 minute for begging for their lives.
- when we arrived, we were told to get to work. even if we were tired, we were told to keep working. in our free time, we looked for scraps of food. Richeiv was already gone at this point.
- we must keep working. it will warm us.
- i'm cold and tired. i want to go home.
