- The Silk roads were a vast network of roads and trails that allowed for trade and cultural exchange across Eurasia.
- States connected through trade routes, which not only led to traded goods, but spread ideas, culture, and religion, leading to cultural diffusion.
- (Caravanserai)
- Across those states, many merchants would need to only bring their most valuable items to get the most worth out of a trade making their trip worth it.
- In order to make those trips easier, innovations based on travel began to emerge, such as saddles for people to sit on and to carry items, as well as caravanserai which allowed people to discuss their cultures and trades while being safe.
- I wonder if my next trade will get me what I need...
- Samarkand
- Samarkand was famous because it was at the convergence of 2 big trade routes in modern day Uzbekistan
- Just what I need! I'm willing to trade my camel for that sack of spices.
- It's yours now! That camel and its saddle will help me trade further distances.
- It was not only a great place to trade for luxury goods, but also be introduced to new cultures as well. This was found out as many ancient relics from different religions ended up here.
