- Hey Sherry, did Addie sleep in the bed with you and Mark at night? We've heard horrible stories about it, so I wanted to see what you ended up doing when it come to bed time.
- Of course we allowed Addie to sleep with us! Neither of us had no problem with it. It always worked out perfect and still does. What have you heard?
- I believe Addie is so attached to us that she would not like sleeping alone. If anything, her sleeping with us both provides her comfort, which I feel like she wouldn't get sleeping alone.
- The risk of suffocation and SIDS is higher with co-sleeping than it is with room sharing.
- I get that, but isn't that reducing the amount of exploration freedom Addie should receive?
- Amy, we love it because we believe it Is creating a home environment which is emphasizing mutual giving.
- Yes, but with Addie's hand held all the time and her sleeping with you and Mark is only going to make her dependent on you both, which may lead her to finding tasks that she needs to complete on her own to be difficult.
- Listen here Amy. You don't know what's best for my child. If anything, her being so attached to us will encourage higher levels of child intelligence. What do you think about that?
- Oh my goodness, I did not mean to make you mad Sherry. I just want to make sure I do what is best for Travis. I want him to be close with Steve and I, but not too much to where it becomes more dangerous than comfortable.
- Finding Travis unresponsive due to one of our pillows or blankets within our bed, is the last thing that we want. Or any parent would want for that matter.
- It's okay! We all have the right to parent our own way. However, emotional regulation has been a major factor with her being so attached.
- I hope whatever you and Steve decide to do for Travis works out for you all. Always remember, it's your decision. Not anyone else's!
