The North outvoted the South,makeing Lincoln the 16th president

After having a convection in South Carolina, they voted to officially leave the union on December 20th, 1860.

Critten proposed a series of amendments. Where the Missouri Compromise would be put into the Constitution. But Lincoln disapproved.

Texas,Louisana, Mississippi,Alabama, florida,Georgia and South Carolina formed a new nation called the Confederate States of America. Their President was Jefferson Davis.

Most Southerners liked the idea of succession. They reacted by ringing church bells and writing in the newspaper about it. However, most Northerners did not like the fact that the South left the union and wanted It to be preserved. Some wanted them to leave.

Since the South left the Union during the end of James Buchanan's term. Buchanan sent a letter to congress saying that the South had no right to leave the union. Lincoln said that he would try and reconciliation with the South and still enforce laws on the government property.
