Storyboard Text

  • Person vs Society
  • Need a haircut, greaser?
  • We're gonna do you a favor, greaser. We're gonna cut all that long greasy hair off.
  • Person vs Person
  • Cherry, Marcia, just listen to us...
  • Stop it! We'll ride home with you. Just wait a minute.
  • Person vs Nature
  • Get out!
  • For Pete's sake, get outa there! That roofs gonna cave in any minute. Forget those blasted kids!
  • The conflict shown adds to the story because it gives the reader a little preview of what the whole book is based upon. The Socs fight the Greasers constantly, often attacking them. They each have a reputation, the Greasers having their long greasy hair is a sign of Greasers.
  • No.
  • The conflict shows just how desperate Bob is after Cherry left him because he was drunk at the movie. The conflict showcases Bob’s persuasion and threat (that he has more Socs in the car, potentially for if a fight broke out). In the end, Cherry and Marcia get in the car and the rest continue on their way.
  • This conflict is person vs. nature, as the pieces of roof falling and almost hitting them in the church is natural. The church is on fire, and it’s old, so it would naturally fall apart over time. Mixed with the fire, the risk of the church falling apart increases even more. This conflict shows a lot of imagery and shows the urgency for the group to get out of the church quickly.
