- Nobody ever plays with me! Everybody is mean!
- At the playground, a young girl asks her classmate if she can play with her in the sandbox.
- The classmate refuses, saying that she wants to play alone.
- Later, the classmate wonders why nobody plays with her, and concludes that it is because everybody is mean. This is an obvious example of projection as she is taking her own unacceptable qualities or feelings and ascribing them to other people.
