  • It was the 1930s and the British Colonial Rule had been stronger than ever.
  • We will control the whole country and become extremely powerful!
  • Slide: 2
  • Indians were troubled my the government's brutality and their repressive laws. They felt harassed and mistreated. They began desiring for freedom.
  • Our business is suffering losses but the government has increased the taxes yet again. 
  • My crop has failed but I still have to pay revenue.
  • The government is passing such oppressive acts.

  • Amidst all the chaos and growing resentment, Gandhi Ji decided to launch the Civil Disobedience Movement in 1930.
  • We have had enough. Now, we will fight for poorna swaraj!

  • Gandhi Ji marched to the coastal town, Dandi for breaking the infamous salt law. There, he boiled seawater to manufacture his own salt. This marked the start of the Civil Disobedience Movement.
  • From now on disobey the government. Break all the rules!!

  • Indians participated in the movement with great enthusiasm. Foreign good were boycotted, shops picketed and buildings attacked. People violated all the laws.

  • The Civil Disobedience Movement was called off by Gandhi Ji in 1931. However, India continued to fight for it's independence and finally succeeded in becoming a free nation in 1947.
