- Francis has a lot of homeworkbut she is having trouble finding motivation to complete her assignments
- Operant conditioning is learning in which behavior is strengthened if followed by reinforcement or diminished if followed by a punisher.
- I'm going to eat a snack and take a break after each assignment!
- This is an example of Operant Conditioning because she will be positively rewarding herself after every work completed.
- The snacks are a positive reinforcement that acts a stimulus when presented after a response that strengthens the response.
- She is determined to finish her first assignment because she knows she will have a sandwichas a reward

- Francis now looks forward to finishing each assignment. Associativelearning is the process that occurs when a subject links certain events in the process of conditioning. For example, homework with rest breaks.
- Now I can enjoy my sandwich and take a break before moving on to my other assignments!
- The sandwich and the rest breaks were the conditioned stimulus and the positive reinforcement to get her homework done.
- I have finished all my homework and now I am free to enjoy the rest of my day!
- The next day at school...
- I know the answer because I did my homework!
