- In my episode, the theme I am focusing on is always stand by your friends.
- One quotation from Holes that supports the theme here is the following: "They'll kill him," said Stanley. "Your friend is not in danger," said the Attorney General. "There's going to be an investigation into everything that's happened here. For the present, I am taking charge of the camp." "C'mon, Stanley," said his lawyer. "Your parents are waiting." Stanley stayed where he was.” (Sachar # 97)
- These details show the theme that you should always stand by your friends because in this quote, Stanley’s family found a good lawyer and now Stanley can leave but not with Hector. Stanley refuses to go without Hector though because he knows camp will be bad to Hector. This shows the theme because Stanley is saying he won’t leave without Hector and is standing by him and not leaving him at camp.
- Another quotation from Holes that supports the theme here is the following: “They turned out to be a lot more valuable than the jewels. After legal fees and taxes, Stanley and Zero each received less than a million dollars. But not a lot less. It was enough for Stanley to buy his family a new house, with a laboratory in the basement, and for Hector to hire a team of private investigators.” (Sachar p. #101).
- These details show the theme to always stand by your friends because in this quote, Stanley just opened to the treasure and there is a lot of money but Stanley is still splitting half of it with Hector. This shows the theme because Stanley is giving Hector the money he earned and is not taking it for himself. He is being a good friend.
