Storyboard Text

  • This is the reality for many indigenous children and Teenagers throughout Australia. Let's watch and see what happens.
  • Hey boy, what are you doing out here in the car park all alone. Selling drugs are you now?
  • I just wanted to go for a walk and now I'm being chased with an adult man with a weapon. I was told not to trust strangers and to escape the situation.
  • TO BE ABORIGINAL
  • Every day Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children are forced to face harsh stereotypes. Some of these stereotypes include being involves with drugs, gangs and overall crime. They face discrimination from not only the public but also law enforcement officers. This can lead to wrong allegations and misunderstandings that result in violence for minorities.
  • RUNNING LIKE YOU'VE GOT SOMETHING TO HIDE
  • This dude won't stop following me. I don't understand how him being in an Officers Uniform gives him that right. I'm not doing any wrong
  • When a woman nearby noticed what was happening, she spoke up. We don't know what could have happened if she didn't step in. What we do know is that children will never be equipped to deal with situations like this against grown adults.
  • IT IS TIME TO STOPIt's time we step in and say the things that are going to force change with our system. To be Aboriginal is not to be the minority, but to be given endless opportunities.www.welcometocountry.org
