- Narada one day boasted before Vishnu that no devotee could excel him.
- I'm here singing a devotional song, and that poor farmer here is a horny-handed son of the soil who remembered the Lord only three times a day, whom Vishnu judged superior to him!
- A farmer who was tilling his little plot of land is a greater devotee. You should visit him and learn “the art of devotion” from him.
- Out of embarrassment, he watches the farmer. Narada only heard him speak the name of the Lord more than thrice a day; once when he woke up from bed, another time when he took his midday meal, and the last when he retired for the night

- Narada returned to heaven furious. Vishnu was only laughing and asked him to carry a pot of water without a single drop of water falling.
- Narada admits later on that he forgot the name of god completely and Vishnu explains that the farmer has many more problems with his life, however he still remembers the name of god thrice a day. With that you can still get great peace.
