- Helium
- The Earth started as a ball of molten rock, the only gases were hydrogen and helium.
- The only things on Earth were volcanoes, these released the gases, Nitrogen, Methane, Carbon Dioxide, Water Vapour and Ammonia. But after a while, volcanoes stopped erupting and cooled down and this caused water vapour to turn into water creating oceans.
- Carbon Dioxide has sunk into the sea from the volcanoes which creates rocks, photosynthesis also occurs which creates plants under the sea.
- Photosynthesis next happens on land, this means trees and land plants can grow, these trees and plants release oxygen into the air.Ammonia is oxidised to Nitrogen.
- Now that there is oxygen in the air, animals can live. Carbon Dioxide creates shells and skeletons of the animals.
- When these animals die, they create an oil called Crude Oil, this happens when the animal's body sinks and dissolves into the ground. Crude Oil takes millions of years to make, so once we run out of it, there is none left as we use Crude Oil faster than it can be made, this is why lot's of places/things such as cars are going electric instead of petrol cars.
