  • Arachne- Human Form
  • Minerva
  • Arachne- Spider form
  • This is the story of Arachne and Minerva. Arachne claimed being a better weaver than the mighty god Athena. Athena challenges her to a weave-off and Athena ends up losing, but in her rage she turned Arachne into a spider forever.
  • Arachne was a lady who was the greatest weaver around. She would weave and people would watch with awe at the art she made.
  • Growing ever more prideful. Arachne began claiming she was an even better weaver than the roman god of crafts, Minerva. Minerva heard her claims and she was enraged by such boastful ignorance.
  • Minerva came down to the mortal world and confronted Arachne. She challenged Arachne to a weave-off. Arachne accepted the challenge and the duel started!
  • They weaved from dawn to dusk and finally they both were finished. Minerva's portrayed the gods sitting at a table eating food, while Arachne's weave depicted the gods being drunk and stumbling around. Arachne had the better weave, and beat Minerva.
  • Outraged from being bested by a mere mortal. Minerva exclaimed "YOU WANT TO SPIN! GO AHEAD AND SPIN!". Minerva pointed her finger at Arachne and Arachne's hair fell off, her arms grew pointy and thin, and she turned into a small spider forever. The take away or meaning of this story is to not be prideful, but humble and grateful in your talents.
