- class today we will be learning how to find the area of a trapezoid.
- How do you know what are the two bases?
- Trapezoids have 2 bases and have a height that is measured from a 90 degrees angle......oh great question, you know what the two bases are by seeing the two parallel lines.
- The formula for the trapezoid is A=1/2h (b1+b2).
- So, lets solve the area with these dimensionsh=14b1=12b2=26
- so first we write the formula again: A=1/2 h(b1+b2)Then we substitute: A=1/2(14) (12+26)Then solve: A=1/2(14)(38)Solve: A=7(38) ......what is 38(7) class?...... YESSo:A=266 squared
- 266?
- Yes!
